The Rotary Club of Joliet is now accepting applications for the Dr. Paul Morimoto Scholarship through May 31, 2024.

The Rotary Club of Joliet is awarding three scholarships worth $2,423.00 each to a student from Joliet Junior College, University of St. Francis, and Lewis University. Students must be enrolled in a program related to a Healthcare Field of Study.  The scholarships will be used for tuition only.

The scholarship application includes essay questions about volunteer activities, field of study, and college/career goals. In 1989, “Service Above Self” was established as the principal to of the Rotary International because it best conveys the philosophy of unselfish volunteer service. The student applications will be asked to describe how they incorporate “Service” into their everyday life and how they will apply “Service” to their field of study and future career.

Funds for these scholarships are provided by a generous gift from the family of Dr. Paul Morimoto, a proud Rotarian for 39 years, a beloved Joliet ophthalmologist and winner of the Sehring Medal of Excellence from Silver Cross Hospital in 2013.

Students who attend Joliet Junior College, University of St. Francis, and Lewis University in a Healthcare Field of Study are eligible to apply. The deadline for submission is Tuesday, May 31, 2024. (The application must be received on or before the submission date.)
