As fall arrives so do new opportunities for service in your clubs and donations to the Rotary Foundation to do good in our communities and around the world. I am pleased to announce that District 6450 is launching a new Polio Plus program, the in that it too requires an annual pledge. The annual commitment to the Polio Plus Society is $100 per Rotary year until Polio is eradicated. If you join prior to December 31, 2021, you will be considered a Charter Member and will be recognized by the district. The $100 annual donation will also count toward your Paul Harris points. I am happy to say that I have already submitted my pledge and deposited my $100 toward Polio Plus, I hope that you will join me in the push to eliminate Polio in this decade.
As our state numbers are on the rise and COVID protocol is once again requiring masks indoors, our clubs are continuing to handle the challenge of meeting with the help of technology. Not all clubs have an “expert” in the room on this subject. I am in search of Rotarians throughout the district to establish a technology committee focused on hybrid meeting set up. This committee will be charged with recommending the best practices for a variety of club meeting types and possibly being on sight for a time or two to help get clubs up and running with new technology. If this is your passion, please contact me to be added to this committee.
Finally, with fall comes traditional Fall Training, not so traditional this year. Beginning in September we will be offering online trainings weekly for a variety of topics. Check the district calendar for weekly updates.
Wishing you all a very safe and relaxing holiday weekend. Yours in service,
Jane Hopkins District Governor Rotary International District 6450
