‘Tis the Season for Giving

 
Five local organizations received donations from the Rotary Club of Joliet. The money was generated from the weekly Sergeant at Arms program. This year’s collections topped $6,000.
 
The recipients were nominated by club members and then selected by the Giving committee chaired by Diane Habiger and Jackie McTee.
 
“Each year, the selection process gets more and more difficult,” said McTee. “We are fortunate to have very high quality organization in the Joliet area and to choose only a few to receive our donations is quite challenging.”
 
This year’s donations include:
  • $1,700 to United Cerebral Palsy to purchase a Somatron, a special chair used in therapy for clients;
  • $1,000 to NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) to fund additional training for volunteers;
  • $2,000 to Habitat for Humanity to purchase a trailer to use on job sites;
  • $750 to the Cathedral of St. Ray’s to purchase a food truck;
  • Cornerstone Services received $1,800 to purchase fitness equipment for its clients
 
“I continue to be impressed with the generosity of Rotarians worldwide and especially here in our community,” said Dave Thornton, Joliet Rotary Club president. “A few dollars each week adds to make a huge difference for these worthy organizations.”
