The Rotary Club of Joliet has chosen three finalist for its 2012 Service Recipient award.  (Download summary here.)

Club members heard first-hand from each of them at last Tuesday's meeting.  After the presentations, members were emailed online voting instructions from Bill Jenkins, to select who will be the recipient of up to $10,000 in Rotary Raffle proceeds.

  • J.D. Ross from the Will Grundy Medical Clinic is asking for funds to repaint the interior of the clinic. The clinic has not had a fresh coat of paint for more than 13 years and this would go along way to help improve the asthetics of the clinic. The clinic has experienced an increase in its patient load, due to the difficult economy, and a fresh coat of paint will brighten the clinic's interior and extend a welcoming environment to its patients.

  • Bill Thomas, St. Vincent de Paul thrift store, is requesting money to replace the store's tile floor. The thrift store offers clothing and household items to residents in need free of charge. Proceeds from the sale of store items go to fund a variety of programs sponsored by the agency.

  • Susan Parker, Our Lady of Angels retirement home, is requesting funds to purchase eight new medication carts to better serve its residents. The facility's current medication carts are outdated and not efficient. The nurses are responsible for distributing many medications for the residents each day and the new medication carts would help ensure these medicines are administered safely and accurately.
All members should have received an email asking for their vote as to which of these projects should receive the funding. The winning agency will receive up to $10,000 in funding for their project.
